NOTE TO OUR CUSTOMERS

For our new customers who may not be aware. Moonshadow is a 46′ OCEAN YACHT SS and has [3] double staterooms, [2] full heads and [3] freezers to provide adequate ice for long trips. On the long trips to and from the off-shore canyons six guests can sleep comfortably. You will not find this level of comfort on any other charter boat in this area of New Jersey. The cost associated with operating, docking in the summer, and storage in the winter, maintenance and insurance for a boat this size is substantially higher than for a smaller boat in the 36′ to 40′ range. Smaller charter boats don’t have the interior space and comfort that a 46′ boat does. Think of it as riding in a big Mercedes sedan versus riding in a small Kia coupe. For these reasons our rates may be slightly higher than what the small boats charge for the obvious reasons stated above. But, the old saying, you get what you pay for, certainly holds true in this case. Most importantly, we catch fish.

Due to the continuing volatility in the price of fuel, we have instituted a set charter fee covering the expenses associated with operating a charter boat for the type of trip booked, plus the cost per gallon of diesel fuel based on the price charged at the marina on the day the trip ends. We will start with full tanks. From records kept over the past years, we are able to give a fairly accurate accounting of how much fuel will be used on a specific trip. We will use the price of fuel on the day of the trip, times the number of gallons we expect to use, and add that figure to the charter fee. At the end of the trip, we will refuel back to full and rebate any cost overrun back to the customer. We have copies of previous offshore fuel bills and the log book is available for your viewing, if asked. We believe this is the fairest way to deal with spiraling fuel costs.
